Australian gannet colony, New Zealand
Gannets are "dive-bombing" seabirds who spend half of the their life at sea. The other half is spent on shore in breeding colonies. Each year from August till March, Muriwai beach in New Zealand becomes home to about 1,200 breeding pairs. The birds nest on rocky islands and a few headlands, packed closely together.
